‘Peter and I can’t wait to have babies’

‘Peter and I can’t wait to have babies’

1 September 2011
A beaming Mrs. Haag (aka Celina Jaitley) talks to City Times about her dream wedding, babies and career after marriage

How does it feel being married?

People think and react to marriage as if it’s a big change in their lives. It certainly is a change, but a very pleasant one especially if you’re married to the right person, friend and lover. Most of all married for the right reasons! Chains do not hold a marriage together, it’s threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.

Are you planning to have a grand celebration for your industry friends?

We have just had a family tragedy recently. Eventually we do plan to have a get together for all our friends.

Every girl has a dream wedding, was this anything close to what you had envisioned?

The wedding was a fairytale one. It was even beyond my dreams. The crisp mountain air, picture perfect scenery of Austria, the 1,000-year-old monastery untouched by time, champagne and excellent food in the presence of all our near and dear people made it a most memorable occasion.

How did you manage to keep the wedding a secret?

The intention was not to be secretive but to enjoy our event privately and not make it a public display of finery. As I said before, a wedding is an intimate moment and we wanted it to be our moment and no one else’s. Most people end up investing more in their wedding than in their marriage.

Reports say that your parents couldn’t make it for your big day. Were you upset?

My parents could not make it due to last moment visa challenges. Of course, I missed them but we had a hearty welcome in army style in India.

What was going through your mind before your wedding?

The only thing in my mind was what my grandmother told me over the phone just before the ceremony – Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate.

Now that you are married, will you be shifting base to Dubai?

Marriage is the same for me as it is for any other working girl. Marriage is just another step towards embracing my womanhood. My work is ‘me’ and I have no intentions of leaving it. I will be travelling between Dubai and Mumbai like many Hollywood colleagues who may live temporarily in various destinations and return for work whenever and wherever required. As an actor of today’s generation, I am privileged to be enjoying this lifestyle.

Rumour has it that you’re pregnant. Is there any truth to that?

Planning a family is bound to happen sooner or later. Peter and I love children a lot and cannot wait to have our own little bunnies; however we are sad that certain media agencies instead of sharing our happiness, were more interested in our family planning!
